Steven Hernandez is the SPA Fellow for DevSecOps and Cloud where he leads the design and implementation of secure, scalable software and cloud architectures that support mission-critical space operations. With more than a decade of experience in software engineering, enterprise architecture, and DevSecOps, Mr. Hernandez translates complex operational requirements into resilient platforms that accelerate capability delivery.
At SPA, Mr. Hernandez architects enterprise integration frameworks and cloud-native applications that enable real-time data sharing and operational decision-making across Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Command and Control (C2) systems. His work supports mission systems used by hundreds of warfighters at the Combined Space Operations Center, improving system integration timelines and enabling faster deployment of critical capabilities.
Mr. Hernandez is widely recognized as a trusted technical authority and has been designated by U.S. Space Force leadership as a government-recognized “Key Person” supporting the Kobayashi Maru program. In this role, he establishes engineering standards, advances DevSecOps practices, and mentors software engineers across the portfolio to strengthen technical delivery and innovation.
Prior to joining SPA, Mr. Hernandez held engineering leadership roles supporting Space Force modernization efforts with organizations including MCR, acquired by SPA in 2021, and LinQuest. In these roles, he led development teams building microservices-based mission applications that support the Space Tasking Cycle and broader command and control operations. He also pioneered continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines that accelerated deployment timelines while maintaining security and operational reliability across mission systems. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hernandez helped establish foundational technical patterns for modernization efforts within the Space C2 portfolio, contributing to engineering practices and mission applications adopted across multiple teams.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Hernandez brings operational perspective and deep technical expertise to advancing secure, cloud-enabled software capabilities for national security missions.
Mr. Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Technology and Business Leadership from Antioch University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence.
