Trip Barber and Rocket Science

By day, Arthur H. (Trip) Barber serves as SPA’s Chief Analyst, advising our employees and customers on complex analytical issues. Off the clock, Trip continues to put his aerospace engineering degree to good use as the founder and manager of The American Rocketry Challenge (TARC).

Trip Barber founded the American Rocketry Challenge program over two decades ago and continues to run the program as a volunteer to this day. Over its 22-year history, the program has enrolled more than 16,000 student teams (of 3 to 10 students per team) of 6th through 12th graders from all 50 states, a total of over 100,000 students.

Trip’s service to the community is a testament to SPA’s volunteer spirit and culture of mentorship.

Next Step Farms Workday

Helping Hands volunteers from Intrepid, an SPA Company, rolled up their sleeves and got to work at Next Step Farms. The crew established pasture fencing by digging, driving t-stakes, and setting wood posts to ensure the safety of the organization’s smaller farm animals. Way to go, team!

Helping Hands is an employee-driven initiative supporting volunteer opportunities at local non-profit organizations. Since 2022, the program has organized two–to–three events monthly. Volunteers have made a significant difference in several key areas, including supporting disabled adults and veterans, supplying food pantries, and assisting with community-wide events.

Intrepid is grateful for the time spent with their friends at Next Step Farms! Learn more about this incredible initiative here: NextStepFarms.org
