Trip Barber and Rocket Science
By day, Arthur H. (Trip) Barber serves as SPA’s Chief Analyst, advising our employees and customers on complex analytical issues. Off the clock, Trip continues to put his aerospace engineering degree to good use as the founder and manager of The American Rocketry Challenge (TARC).
Trip Barber founded the American Rocketry Challenge program over two decades ago and continues to run the program as a volunteer to this day. Over its 22-year history, the program has enrolled 16,149 student teams (of 3 to 10 students per team) of 6th through 12th graders from all 50 states, a total of about 95,000 students.
Trip’s service to the community is a testament to SPA’s volunteer spirit and culture of mentorship.
