Chris Grubb is SPA’s Technical Fellow for Data Science, responsible for excellent technical execution, mentorship, and development of SPA’s data scientists and other analytic staff, setting analytics and data science strategy, and developing SPA’s data science, machine learning, and analytics business. Chris perfectly synthesizes a philosophical approach to problem solving with the analytic rigor of data science.

Chris Grubb is SPA’s Technical Fellow for Data Science, responsible for excellent technical execution, mentorship, and development of SPA’s data scientists and other analytic staff, setting analytics and data science strategy, and developing SPA’s data science, machine learning, and analytics business. Chris perfectly synthesizes a philosophical approach to problem solving with the analytic rigor of data science.

Mr. Grubb exemplifies a fascinating career journey that began with a graduate degree in philosophy combined with enough math and science to qualify him for work in statistical analysis. He has served as the Chief Data Scientist at the Department of State in the Center for Analytics.

As Chief Data Scientist at Department of State, Mr. Grubb contributed to the Federal Data Strategy Data Ethics Framework and served as the Department’s Statistical Official to the Federal Statistical Program.

Mr. Grubb has also held senior technical leadership positions at Deloitte Consulting, where he helped drive data science and analytics strategy, and deliver data science solutions in the Defense and Federal national security markets.

Mr. Grubb has delivered and led teams delivering data science and analytics solutions for clients across the federal government, including several clients in the U.S. Navy, the Department of State, Department of Army, and Department of Homeland Security, among others.

Mr. Grubb has also served as a U.S. Navy Submarine Warfare Officer and qualified as Engineer Officer, where he completed one Western Pacific deployment and served in the Special Operations office in the headquarters of Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMSUBPAC).

Mr. Grubb has a Master of Science in Operations Research from George Mason University, with a special focus on stochastic modeling. He also holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.
