Dr. William (Bill) Vantine served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Systems Planning & Analysis from 2016 to 2022. During his tenure, Dr. Vantine led the company through consecutive years of high growth while achieving excellence in all aspects of operations. SPA was named Government Contractor of the Year in 2022, a Washington Post Top Workplace each year of Dr. Vantine’s tenure, and has earned the Department of Labor’s HIRE Vets Gold Medal since the program’s inception in 2018. Dr. Vantine was named GovCon CEO of the year in 2019 and the WashingtonExec DoD Executive of the Year (Industry) in 2021.
Before joining SPA, Dr. Vantine served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Los Alamos Technical Associates and previously served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of the ARES Corporation. Dr. Vantine began his career at NASA, where he held numerous program management positions.
Dr. Vantine received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the George Washington University and his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. He is a member of the Pi Alpha National Honor Society, a former Presidential Management Fellow and Wolcott Senior Fellow, and an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In addition to his Ph.D. dissertation, “Managing the Risk of Failure in Large Complex Systems,” Dr. Vantine is the author of more than 20 professional papers on risk management, software, data analysis, safety, and reliability. Dr. Vantine serves on the Board of Directors for several private companies, as a member of the NASA Administrator’s International Space Station Advisory Committee, and as a member of the Board of Advisors for the Rotary National Space Trophy and the George Washington University Trachtenberg School.
